I will not criticize the Indian cricket team's management, because I have no idea how it is being managed. What I have an idea about is, the outcome. They have never done well enough to satisfy the Indian public. And they've played enough for themselves, now it's time to play for the viewers. They've made tonnes of money for themselves by scoring single-digit scores.
If a bunch of Australians can take the world cup thrice consecutively, I'm pretty sure we can find 11 out of 1,000,000,000 people who can beat them. Even if you picked the best player out of every 1000 people, you'd still be left with 1,000,000 players to choose from. And given the fact that everyone in India knows how to play cricket, it will be safe to consider the entire population. The older generation can, of course, be invited to give their valuable advice, which they always seem to have when it comes to cricket.
I can't say much on the current state of affairs though, I stopped following cricket quite some time back, and then got back into it when I watched the world cup, and then got straight out of it again 'cos it just seemed like another dead series. I feel very sorry for the people of the islands who really thought they could fill up the stands. It looked like a joke.
Do we really have no sportsmen left? Do we really feel proud of sending just 1 capable person to the Olympics? Are we only looking for the 1 gold at the games? We surely can expect more. Do all of us have to be engineers and doctors? If all of us were engineers and doctors, then who'd paint the houses and fix the pipes? Do we always flock around where the money is, and don't give a damn about where our happiness lies? More aptly, do we always flock around where the "easy" money is? What do we do when we earn the money? Re-invest. How exciting!
I'll tell you a good way how life might work.
Work. Accept your payslip with a smile.
50% - Feeding thyself and living
20% - On a hobby that you love
20% - On a comfortable bed/couch/mattress that you can rest on
10% - Save for a rainy day/Re-invest
I say hobby because that will give us a very good reason to do something we are not being paid for. And it will also give us a good reason to spend our money. This will, in turn, give us a reason to go to work and earn more of it and thus we have recursion. It will ultimately lead to "being rich", but in a much happier way, don't u think?
We really need some change here. If you think I'm referring to you, then please read this post.
