Creativity

Says Wikipedia,

Creativity is a mental and social process involving the generation of new ideas or concepts, or new associations of the creative mind between existing ideas or concepts. Creativity is fueled by the process of either conscious or unconscious insight. An alternative conception of creativeness is that it is simply the act of making something new.

And there is pretty much nothing to disagree in that.

But looking for genius in creativity is hard. I have never been able to be creative in any of my endeavors, and I haven't, till date, figured out why. But you keep doing your work, and genius might patch up with creativity.

As Elizabeth Gilbert rightly puts it
http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/elizabeth_gilbert_on_genius.html
It takes a very great mind to actually create something new, be it art, stories, computer code, buildings etc. You can find it all around you. Provided it is done properly.

PS: - Even the Nuclear bomb was a creative idea.

FS 2004 Sliders won't move

This might help someone in the future.

I am a moderate fan of Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2004, even more a fan of Flight Sim X.
Unfortunately, I don't have the right machine to play it. For all practical purposes, I only play 2004 because that's all my laptop will support for a good gameplay experience.

Recently though, I happened to notice that Runway centerlines couldn't be seen, taxiway markings etc where obscure, and graphics quality in general had gone down. When I opened the graphics settings page, I find that I can't move any of the sliders to a custom level (in order to experiment)

Turns out this happens when Windows Blinds tries to skin FS9. All you have to do is to add FS9 to Windows Blinds' exception list and you are on your way.
